Hey Reader.

Welcome to Issue # 49 of AWS Graviton Weekly, which will be focused on sharing everything that happened in the past week related to AWS Silicon: from August 4th, 2023 to August 11th, 2023.

In this issue, you will find:

  • EC2 Inf2 instances, optimized for generative AI are now available in US West (Oregon) region
  • the announcement of Mountpoint for Amazon S3
  • the full live stream of AWS Storage Day 2023
  • and at the final of the email you will find which company has more than half of Arm servers CPUs

But first, I wanted to give a shout-out to two fellow creators in the space, focused as well on Amazon Web Services: Karl Robinson and Johnathan Goodall (co-founders of Logicata) who have an exciting combo of newsletter + podcast where they keep people informed as well the last announcements from AWS.

They have a very interesting format to share the news, so I encourage you to follow them on LinkedIn.

This week was AWS Storage Day 2023. So, the majority of announcements this week were related to Storage.

Now, back to business.

From the ARM Ecosystem

Created to handle the world’s most complex generative AI workloads, spanning large language models, recommender systems, and vector databases, the new platform will be available in a wide range of configurations.
The dual configuration — which delivers up to 3.5x more memory capacity and 3x more bandwidth than the current generation offering — comprises a single server with 144 Arm Neoverse cores, eight petaflops of AI performance, and 282GB of the latest HBM3e memory technology.
“To meet surging demand for generative AI, data centers require accelerated computing platforms with specialized needs,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “The new GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip platform delivers this with exceptional memory technology and bandwidth to improve throughput, the ability to connect GPUs to aggregate performance without compromise, and a server design that can be easily deployed across the entire data center.”
