Hey Reader

Welcome to Issue # 8 of AWS Graviton Weekly, which will be focused on sharing everything that happened in the past week related to AWS Graviton: from October 21st, 2022, to October 28th, 2022.

First, thank you to Stephen and Rahul from AWS Made Easy, for the great conversation we had past Tuesday (October 25th, 2022) about Graviton. I truly enjoyed it.

If you didn't watch it, here is the link on YouTube

Or if you prefer, here is the livestream in LinkedIn.

BTW, two quick tips here:

  1. Subscribe to AWS Made Easy: Why? Because they share a lot of great tips in order to extract the best of Amazon Web Services. They talk with real AWS practitioners every single Tuesday. So, highly recommended if you want to keep fresh your AWS muscles

  2. If your company is looking for new ways to save a ton of money when using AWS, these guys have a product called CloudFix, which is an incredible and easy-to-install addon to your AWS account which automatically scans and analyze your AWS environment and identifies potential savings, based in the best recommendations from AWS itself. You can read more about it here.

But before continuing here, let me clarify this: None of these messages are sponsored.

One of my goals with this newsletter is to help you to be more efficient using AWS, not only with Graviton but with other services and tips as well.

CloudFix is a recent gem I found thanks to this amazing chat with Stephen and Rahul. Simple as that!!

  • AWS Nitro Enclaves is now supported on AWS Graviton: I'm particularly excited about this new launch. Why? Because this could help companies and organizations from highly regulated industries like Healthcare to have more protection for sensitive information like Personally Identifiable Information (PII), but at the same time, to take advantage of the incredible performance of Graviton-based instances. Learn more about AWS Nitro Enclaves here

  • Amazon SageMaker adds eight new Graviton-based instances for model deployment: Now, customers can use ml.c7g, ml.m6g, ml.m6gd, ml.c6g, ml.c6gd, ml.c6gn, ml.r6g, and ml.r6gd for Real-time and Asynchronous Inference model deployment options, and now supports the ml.c7g instance family. ml.c7g instances are available in US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland)

Quote of the day

Migrating from one platform to another is not always trivial and depends on your workload (type of application, dependencies, etc.).

Codiga applications run on JVM And Python, which makes the migration straightforward (these are platform-independent applications).

It took us a few hours to migrate our build infrastructure from Intel to ARM64 (e.g., produce Docker images for the ARM64 platform instead of Intel), and AWS CodeBuild makes it very easy to migrate your build from Intel to Graviton.
